The principle of operation involves capturing sounds with two directional microphones and reproducing them with speakers inside the headset. This allows the user to hear the surrounding environment and protect their hearing simultaneously. Harmful noises are limited to a safe level of 82 dB, while lower sounds are amplified. The headset for communication utilizes a detachable, two-way microphone, so it won't interfere with aiming. For connection to communication devices such as radios or transceivers, the headset uses a MIL-STD 4-pin plug connector (known as Nexus TP-120 / 7.0 NATO), which needs to be connected to a compatible PTT switch (available here) based on the connector type on the transceiver/radio.
