Hop-up bucking, together with a precision inner barrel, chamber pressure system, and quality BBs, is one of the most crucial components affecting your weapon's accuracy and range. If you want to shoot farther and more accurately, there’s no need to excessively increase muzzle velocity. It’s like pressing the gas in a car without a steering wheel. Finding the right setup is an art, and everyone has their own "perfect" solution.
Hop-up buckings come in various designs, each suited for different inner barrel types (AEG/HPA, GBB/VSR, Hybrid), muzzle velocity (shore hardness), external temperature (classic or silicone buckings), and most importantly, intended use (range or accuracy).
The longer and wider the contact patch with the bucking, the greater the achievable range, but BBs might not be as precise compared to buckings with a diamond-shaped patch. This type ensures that during the initial contact, the BB is fully engaged by the patch width before transitioning into a pointed shape, which increases accuracy but offers less backspin for extended distances compared to wider patches.

Classification of AEG/HPA Hop-up Buckings by Maple Leaf

• MONSTER DIAMOND
  One of Maple Leaf’s earliest models. The diamond-shaped patch is designed for higher accuracy and tighter grouping. Available only in durable black and suitable for standard AEG barrels with TM-style cutouts. It features three sealing ridges for better chamber sealing. This model can be seen as a predecessor to the MACARON.
  
  
• MACARON
  A top-tier Hop-up bucking with a diamond-shaped patch for maximum accuracy. An upgraded version of MONSTER DIAMOND, it offers color-coded hardness levels, a redesigned sealing lip, and more flexible material for temperature adaptability. The sharp diamond point ensures precise BB rotation and reduced grouping compared to the MONSTER. Compatible with standard AEG barrels with TM-style cutouts.
  
  
• SUPER MACARON
  Essentially a MACARON model optimized for accuracy but compatible with Hybrid AEG/GBB/VSR barrels featuring TM-style cutouts. Its internal O-ring ensures a snug fit in barrels with GBB/VSR cutouts, while its AEG-like length suits Hybrid inner barrels such as Maple Leaf, T.N.T., Unicorn, and Slong. Classic AEG barrels without cutouts (e.g., Prometheus, Guarder, KM) may not fit properly, causing issues in sealing and installation.
  It features centering supports around the patch for perfect alignment and is also available in silicone versions for cold weather.
  
  
• MR HOP
  Known as the Maple R-Hop, this bucking combines the advantages of R-Hop systems with the simplicity of traditional buckings. Its wide patch spans most of the Hop-up window, providing exceptional backspin and extended range. However, this system requires heavier BBs. If using 0.25g BBs at 125 m/s, consider upgrading to 0.32g BBs. It’s slightly less accurate than the MACARON model but compensates with heavier BBs. Like the SUPER MACARON, it is suitable for Hybrid AEG/GBB/VSR barrels with cutouts behind the Hop-up window, but not for classic AEG barrels without cutouts.
  
  
• HOT SHOT
  A hybrid bucking that allows GBB/VSR barrels to be used in AEG Hop-up chambers. Ideal for combining Maple Leaf Crazy Jet barrels with MAXX M4Pro AEG chambers. Patch design is identical to SUPER MACARON with centering supports for accuracy. Available with or without a sealing lip for AEG or GBB rifles, respectively. Compatible with SRS chambers (basic and FAST versions).
  
  
• COOL SHOT
  Essentially the same as HOT SHOT but made of silicone for consistent performance in cold weather. Silicone buckings maintain accuracy without needing "warm-up" shots and are ideal for low-temperature environments.
