The idea for the Leatherman brand was born in 1975 when founder Tim Leatherman (that's his real name!) was traveling with his wife in Europe. Back then, they were always running into all sorts of problems with their half-broken down Fiat and broken pipes in cheap hotels. That's when Tim realized it would all be easier if he had a pair of pliers with him. When he got back to America from his trip, he got straight to work. A few sketches and prototypes later, the first multi-tool was born. One year rolled by and Leatherman became the faithful companion of all travelers, fishermen, laborers, tinkerers and soldiers. Even for airsoft, it's handy to have a multtool on hand to fix everything from A to Z.
